Wii fun

So today i'm messing around on the Wii and my hubby informs me that he connected it to our wireless router. This post was typed on my Wii. Needless to say it's like eleventy billion times faster to type a post on my keyboard but has been cool reading all the posts on our TV rather than on my monitor! Back to playing Super Mario Brothers Wii.

Question to the Veteran Bloggers

I am very new the the whole blong thing. I just saw where I could change my settings so that I am emailed the comments on my blog. I didn't know anyone was commenting on my blog and I feel bad because I feel like I have ignored people. Is there a way to respond back to an individual comment or do I go to their blog and leave a comment on their post and hope they know what I am talking about? I have tried reading the help files but I am just getting myself more confused! Not a hard thing to do. Anyway, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Procrastinators Unite.....Tomorrow!

It's time for a party! I just RSVP'd to be a part of The Inspired Room's Procrastinator's party. I have a million projects going on right now in various stages. The project I am choosing to tackle is the kitchen table. It is a hand me down from my brother and sister-in-law. I believe she bought it in the 80's. You will see why I say that in a minute. The table has been well loved and when I heard they were getting rid of it I thought, I could give that table a new life. I started working on this table a while back (a lot longer than I care to admit) I had fun taking out the tiles and then it was time for the sanding, sanding, sanding, and did I mention sanding?

A couple of before shots:

You can now see why I have dated this table to the 80's. Tile with mauve and brown flowers... Think I can get away with calling it vintage? I didn't think so.

In progress shot:
Half the tiles have been freed (AKA: broken into eleventy billion pieces)

All the tiles have vanished and the sanding has begun. You can also see the new color we chose for the kitchen! It's bright and happy and I love it. I still need to make curtains for the windows but alas I am focused on my table :)

That brings us to the present time. I would love to say that it's all re-tiled and stained a new fabulous color but well I lost interest in it for awhile and decided to paint my living room. Don't we all do that in the middle of a project!

Anyway, I have decided that I will dedicate my time to finishing this table (the chairs are another party all together) My plan for the next two weeks is to finish sanding (I am about 95% done), put in new tile, and find a stain that I like and finish this table. I can't wait to see the finished product! I will post pictures of the after product at the end of the party on October 20th. Wish me luck.

So, what have you been procrastinating on?

Edit: The table did not get finished. Yep, I procrastinated.... again. Story of my life. When it does get finished (crosses fingers) I will post pictures.

Heck of a Sale

So one of my co-workers told me of an awesome sale on makeup.

E.L.F (eyes, lips, face) was apparently bought out by Nordstoms. Nordstroms wants to put their label on all current E.L.F cosmetics. This is where we win. E.L.F. is selling everything with their current logo on it for super duper cheap! Most things are only $1. Yep you heard me... a $1. Yes, eyeshadows, lipsticks, glosses, and so much more. Their mineral foundation is $3. I haven't tried it before but for $3 I am willing to give it a shot. Mineral eyeshadow is only $1. I have big puffy heart love for eyeshadow! Oh wait, there's more (in true Billy Mays style... RIP Billy Mays). If you use the code Radio you will get buy one get one 1/2 off. Yep 50 cent makeup. This is a legit deal. Several co-workers have already ordered and received their items. My order has been shipped and I should receive it in a few days! (bounce bounce happy happy!)

Just go to eyeslipsface.com and start shopping. It's a bit addicting as you can read reviews on all the products to see what everyone loves and also what items aren't so great. What a great time to try out some new summer colors and for $1 why are you waiting?

I am no way affiliated with E.L.F and get absolutely nothing for advertising it, just wanted my friends to know about the great deal! Happy shopping. If you buy something let me know what you got? Who knows I may need to get some too! :)

Finally back!

The good news is that I am back!! The bad news is that it took my husband completely wiping my computer to get rid of whatever nasty virus it was infected with. Anyway I have discovered that I am way more addicted to the computer than I originally thought I was. Anyway, I now have to work on beefing up my favorites folder again with all the projects I was going to get around to one day. I am trying to look on the positive side of things. Most everything had been backed up recently so I didn't lose too much stuff. Also, want to get organized... great way to start is with a clean slate. Let's see how long I can keep it clean!

Now that I am back I will be posting more and hopefully learning to do all sorts of cool things I didn't know how to!

Special shout out to all the blogs I follow, y'all are amazing and so crafty and creative and you all put a smile on my face every day! Thanks for letting me follow!

Decorative Binder Clips

I figured I would just jump on in with a tutorial. This is a simple project that I learned to make several years ago but forgot about them until I saw someone else making them. You know how it is, you learn something, make a bunch of them and then move on to other things and forget about things here and there. So anyways here we go. Be patient with me as this is my first ever tutorial.

1. Here is what we will be making today. You can use any paper that you like. I am catering to several people's likes thus the random camo, bright happy stripes, and purple pattern designs. I bought some zebra paper at Hobby Lobby the other day that I thought would be perfect for this. Photobucket

2. Here are the supplies you will need.
A. Cutting mat
B. Mod Podge ( I love this stuff )
C. Binder Clip
D. X-acto knife
E. foam brush
F. Paper of your choosing
G. template (I made one out of a business card I had gotten.) I used a tape measure to measure the binder clip and then created the template so I could just use the X-acto knife to cut around it. Makes is super easy!
Photobucket

3. Cut out paper using cutting mat, template and X-acto knife.
Photobucket

4. Use foam brush to spread a little Mod Podge on back of your paper. Remember a little goes a long way! I put down a piece of scrap paper to do this step so I won't have to scrub Mod Podge off of my cutting mat.
Photobucket

5. Place the paper on the clip and line it all up. Make sure to press down on the bottom of the binder clip as it's a little rounded and the paper won't secure unless you press it down. Let dry for about 10 minutes.
Photobucket

6. Now just put a small layer of Mod Podge over your paper to seal it in and keep it from tearing.
Photobucket

7. Viola once the Mod Podge has dried you have a cute binder clip.

I am making several of the zebra ones for my supervisor at work. I am making her a gift basket for her birthday that will have these, button tacks, magnets, and a notepad. All are going to be in the black and white theme and I may dress some of them up with my pink or red accents. I will post a picture of the finished basket.

If you make these I would love to see how your's turn out. I love seeing what all papers people choose to use.

Happy Crafting.

An Intro of sorts

Welcome to my little spot in the blog world. I am working at becoming a better wife, cook, organizer, crafter and overall person. I have so many goals and projects rattling around in my head that I thought I should put them down somewhere. So in no particular order things I want to achieve:

I want to cook more meals that my husband will actually like and want to eat again. He is the primary cook in our household. I am more of a baker.

I want to get our house organized and make it look more like a home and not a thrift store.

I want to work at losing weight so I can be healthier so we can start our family. This is slow going but frankly I need to step it up because I am not getting any younger. Baby clock is ticking.

I want to learn how to balance family, friends, work, life, fun, and responsibilities. I work shift work and am currently on midnight shift. I try to keep all the balls in the air but I know I am dropping them here and there. There has to be away to do it all..... right? So there you have just a few of my goals. Let's see how well I do at them!

A little about me. I am a police communications specialist (fancy title for police/fire/ems/911 dispatcher as well as records clerk) It's a stressful job but I do love it. I don't really care for the hours or the times I miss with my family and friends but I do get to work with a great group officers who have become my second family. I married my husband on Dec. 1, 2007 which was the best day of my life. I now know what it means to feel complete. I was raised with two older brothers so I have learned to be tough and to like sports. My husband likes this about me. My favorite thing to do is hang out with my and family and friends at a TCU (Texas Christian University) football game. Talk about relaxing and having a great time! I am a Horned Frog through and through. Go Frogs. I have a twisted sense of humor which I blame on my job and my family. My husband and I bought our house in Dec. of 2005. We have named our house the LazyMr. Our friends and family know it as such and when they are wanting to spend the night, they even call to reserve a room at the LazyMr. It's fun:) We have a lot of work to do on our house, paint, carpet, floors, cabinets, etc. It's a work in progress and I see it being so for a long time. I will share our progress as we go along.

Well I guess that's about it for the first post. Did I mention that I ramble? If I didn't I bet you figured it out didn't you! Anyway, Guess I will wrap it up! Hope you visit often and I look forward to getting to know my other crafty peeps!
